The Occult Origins of Easter
The following is a series of articles discussing the possible mythological origins and meanings of Easter. The meanings described are derived from the worldviews and beliefs of the people who wrote them, and I found it interesting to see how their extrapolations were affected.
A great excuse to spend time with family and friends… But what does the holiday mean and where did it come from? Certainly the Spring Equinox is part of it…. But what came first? The holiday or the Egg?
HERE IS SOME OF WHAT WE FOUND:
“History of Easter – Hidden, Secret Origins and Mystery Religion“
THE NAME EASTER ACTUALLY COMES FROM ISHTAR / EASTER WHO WAS WORSHIPED AS THE MOON GODDESS, THE GODDESS OF SPRING AND FERTILITY, AND THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN. SHE IS KNOWN BY SO MANY OTHER NAMES IN OTHER COUNTRIES AND CULTURES THAT SHE IS OFTEN REFERRED TO AS THE GODDESS OF ONE THOUSAND NAMES. MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE UNKNOWINGLY WORSHIPING AND PRAYING TO THIS PAGAN GODDESS TODAY. WHAT IS HER PRESENT-DAY NAME?
The Babylonians celebrated the day of Ishtar / Easter as the return of the goddess of Spring – the re-birth or reincarnation of Nature and the goddess of Nature. Babylonian legend says that each year a huge egg would fall from heaven and would land in the area around the Euphrates River. In her yearly re-birth, Ishtar would break out of this egg and if any of those celebrating this occasion happened to find her egg, Ishtar would bestow a special blessing on that person. Does this explain the origin of our modern- day tradition of Easter eggs and baskets and Easter egg hunts?
Other pagan rites that were connected with this celebration and which are part of our modern Easter tradition are Easter offerings to the Queen of Heaven [The same name the Queen of the Damned Akasha, gave herself in the Anne Rice novel Queen of the Damned] (consisting of freshly cut flowers, hot buns decorated with crosses, and star-shaped cakes); new clothes to celebrate this festival (The pagan priests wore new clothes or robes and the Vestal Virgins wore new white dresses or robes and bonnets on their heads.); and sunrise services (to symbolically hasten the yearly arrival of Ishtar’s egg from heaven – the re- incarnation of the spring goddess). Do we still worship Ishtar today? Are we making a fatal mistake in following this tradition?
From Babylon , this mystery religion spread to Egypt, Asia, Europe, North and South America, all over the world, and eventually was incorporated into mainstream Christian religion.
The roots of Easter as a celebration of the Spring Equinox
Easter falls at the time of the spring equinox. This is no coincidence because the roots of Easter are neo-pagan. Easter has been known by many names: Ostra, Ostrara, Ostara, Eostre and Eastre. The Christian celebration of Easter is like an overlay-at one point in time, when the Christian religion incorporated the ancient Celtic and other pagan rituals. The roots are still there in a modern day Christian holiday.
Easter can be celebrated anywhere from March 22 to April 25. This is because the early observation of Easter was determined by early churches to be on the first Sunday following the full moon that occurs on or following the spring equinox (March 21).
Symbols of Easter-the colored Easter egg, the rabbit, and the Easter lily are all part of the Easter holiday. These symbols all came from celebrating the victory of spring over winter, of life over death, with rituals to the Gods and Goddesses. From celebrating the revival of nature and the return of the sun’s warmth, Easter became the Christianized rebirth of mankind through Christ’s death and resurrection.
Some Christians might like to deny the connection but the theme of rebirth and resurrection is part of many spring celebrations.
Wiccans and other modern-day Neopagans continue to celebrate the Spring Equinox as one of their 8 yearly Sabbats (holy days of celebration). Near the Mediterranean, this is a time of sprouting of the summer’s crop; farther north, it is the time for seeding. Their rituals at the Spring Equinox are related primarily to the fertility of the crops and to the balance of the day and night times. Where Wiccans can safely celebrate the Sabbat out of doors without threat of religious persecution, they often incorporate a bonfire into their rituals, jumping over the dying embers is believed to assure fertility of people and crops.
Many, perhaps most, Pagan religions in the Mediterranean area had a major seasonal day of religious celebration at or following the Spring Equinox. Cybele, the Phrygian fertility goddess, had a fictional consort who was believed to have been born via a virgin birth. He was Attis, who was believed to have died and been resurrected each year during the period MAR-22 to MAR-25. “About 200 B.C. mystery cults began to appear in Rome just as they had earlier in Greece. Most notable was the Cybele cult centered on Vatican hill …Associated with the Cybele cult was that of her lover, Attis ([the older Tammuz, Osiris, Dionysus, or Orpheus under a new name). He was a god of ever-reviving vegetation. Born of a virgin, he died and was reborn annually. The festival began as a day of blood on Black Friday and culminated after three days in a day of rejoicing over the resurrection.”
Many religious historians believe that the death and resurrection legends were first associated with Attis, many centuries before the birth of Jesus. They were simply grafted onto stories of Jesus’ life in order to make Christian theology more acceptable to Pagans. Others suggest that many of the events in Jesus’ life that were recorded in the gospels were lifted from the life of Krishna, the second person of the Hindu Trinity. Ancient Christians had an alternate explanation; they claimed that Satan had created counterfeit deities in advance of the coming of Christ in order to confuse humanity. Modern-day Christians generally regard the Attis legend as being a Pagan myth of little value.
They regard Jesus’ death and resurrection account as being true, and unrelated to the earlier tradition.
A Jewish festival, Purim, also celebrated in the spring, has a central character and heroine, Esther who, as queen, kept the evil Haman from killing her people. Even the very word moon derives from the Sanskrit mas or ma, meaning “to measure.”
Easter is a wonderful admixture of ancient and modern. This is to show respect for this Christian holiday, but also to note that there were pagan and Celtic and other roots that are preserved in other aspects of Easter including the Easter eggs and the symbol of the hare. So the next time at Easter that you exchange Easter baskets, chocolate rabbits and color eggs, think about the origins of this holiday.
This 15-ton lion symbolized Ishtar, the Assyrian goddess of war
It is said in the occult world that the Babylonian goddess Ostara returns to her reincarnated, “Earthly” form as the Spring Goddess Ishtar on the Sunday after the first new moon. Also, the occult has a sacred Friday, before that Sunday in which they call Easter Friday and it is celebrated on the third full moon of the year, historically planned to fall before “Easter Sunday”. It is significant to note that the world has decided “Good Friday” is now more popularly celebrated as “Earth Day”.
Now you’re probably saying, “What a second! Easter is a Christian holiday. We’ve celebrated Easter at my church all of my life.”
From Ostara we got the name Ishtar and from Ishtar we got the name Easter. They are all the same thing. They are Babylonian goddesses.
The Babylonians celebrated Ishtar Sunday or Easter Sunday as the return of Ishtar or Isis or Dianna (she has many names), the goddess of spring. This day marked the reincarnation of nature or the goddess of nature. According to the Babylonians, a huge egg fell from Heaven, landing in the Euphrates River. The goddess, Ishtar (Easter) broke out of this egg signifying the birth of spring.
Later, the feature of ceremonial egg nesting was introduced, a nest where the egg could incubate until hatched. A “wicker” or reed basket was conceived in which to place the Ishtar egg. The Easter Egg Hunt was conceived because, if anyone found her egg while she was being “reborn”, she would bestow a blessing upon that lucky person. Because this was a joyous spring festival, eggs were colored with bright spring colors.
The Babylonian goddess Ishtar is the one for whom Easter is named. In reality, she was Semiramis, wife of Nimrod, and one of the founders of the Luciferian/Babylonian Mysteries. After Nimrod died, Semiramis created the legend that he was really her “divine son” born to her in a virgin Birth. She is considered to be the co-founder of all occult religions, along with Nimrod and Cain. Nimrod and Semiramis set themselves up in ancient times as gods and goddesses, to be worshipped. Nimrod was worshipped as the sun god and was known by many names such as Baal and Moloch. He was responsible for building the tower of Babel.
The occult married their holiday of Easter into the holiday season of the death and resurrection of Jesus. They did this through the infiltrators in the Christian church and everywhere in America you will hear Christian preachers celebrating “Easter”. Thankfully, however, there are some fundamental Christian churches that have started calling Easter Sunday, Resurrection Sunday.
The Easter bunny, who most of you have taken your children to in the mall to have pictures made….is the symbol and representation of the moon hare. It is actually a goddess totem in the occult world and according to occult belief the goddess hare would lay eggs for all the good little children to eat. It was a sign of rebirth to the Babylonians and it was again, intermarried with Christianity. There is nothing Christian about it. Show me a scripture in the Bible that talks about “Easter eggs, Easter bunnies or Easter baskets”. There isn’t one.
What about the timing of our Easter tradition? Jesus told the scribes and Pharisees that when He died, He would be in the “heart of the earth” for three days and three nights (72 hours) before He arose. Our traditional Good Friday to Sunday celebration however, only accounts for Jesus’ being in the heart of the earth for two nights and one day.
There are absolutely no verses anywhere in the Bible that authorize or endorse the keeping of an Easter celebration. Further, Easter has long been known to be a pagan festival. America’s founders knew this. In the children’s book Easter Parade: Welcome Sweet Spring Time (pp 4-5) Steve Englehaty states: “When the puritans came to North America, they regarded the celebration of Easter – and the celebration of Christmas with suspicion. They knew that pagans had celebrated the return of spring long before Christians celebrated Easter. For the first 200 years of European life in North America, only a few states paid much attention to Easter. Not until after the Civil War did Americans begin celebrating this holiday. Easter first became an American tradition in the 1870’s. The original 13 colonies of America began as a Christian nation, with the cry of ‘No king but King Jesus’. The nation did not observe Easter within an entire century of its founding.
Over and over again in the Bible, the Lord says he is against the Babylonians, yet how many of their practices do we play out? If you are a pastor of a church, will you feel comfortable going before the Lord to explain the “resurrection egg hunt” at your church?
The central theme of the Bible is that Jesus Christ was to come (Old Testament) and did come (New Testament) to die for mankind’s sins and to offer redemption to a world separated (by sin) from God. However, Satan, “the god of this world” (II Cor. 4:4) seeks to counterfeit every aspect of God’s plan and he “deceives the whole world.” (Rev 12:9). And as the great deceiver, Satan has always attempted to devise a counterfeit Savior. So, who is the real “savior” that is being celebrated in the Easter Sunday tradition? Is it the Jesus of the Bible….or another god?

Illuminati & occult symbolism of Easter
I’m going to explore the symbolism behind the pagan version of the Easter holiday, celebrated on March 21st-22nd. This is from my Occult & Illuminati holiday traditions post:
The holiday known as Easter is typically a time spent by Christians to reflect on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, there is an occult meaning attached to it that needs explored. It revolves around the Goddess Ostara (aka Babylonian goddess Ishtar, aka Eostre, aka the moon goddess, aka Semiramis, aka Egyptian goddess Isis, aka Greek Aphrodite, aka Roman Venus). Ostara/Eostre is the old English spelling and origin for the name of Easter. In Pagan history, human sacrifices occur on the first Sunday after the first new moon, after Ostara/Eostre. It celebrates the return of Semiramis in her reincarnated form of Spring Goddess, Eostre. This is part of the revolving phases of the Triple Goddess of the female deity, mentioned earlier.
Easter Eggs
The Easter egg is a Babylonian legend that claims the goddess Ishtar (aka Semiramis) fell from heaven in an egg. The Easter (Eostre) egg hunt is based from the tradition of looking for Ishtar and finding her. This would allow her to be reborn and bestow blessings on the person. Semiramis/Ishtar is the goddess of fertility because of this rebirth/egg legend.
Easter Bunny
The rabbit symbol comes about because of the speed of procreation, which just went along with the fertility legend.
Lent
The tradition of fasting for Lent is supposedly a tradition that comes from the Babylonian god Tammuz. He died at the age of 40, and every day of Lent is considered one year of Tammuz’ life and the time is spent in fasting to mourn for Tammuz.
Easter Ham
Tammuz was believed to be killed by a wild boar he was hunting, and the consumption of ham on Easter is a symbolic reference to this event.
Let it be known that I’m a Christian, so this particular topic piqued my interest. I reconcile all of these odd occult connections with the fact that it symbolically means something different today, and to my faith then it did when these traditions were instilled. The Christian concept for Lent is a commemoration of the forty days Jesus spent fasting in the desert and eluded the temptations of the Devil (remember the Obama-Devil on History Channel?). However, the material that I’ve been researching claims that the 40 days is truly a tradition from this Tammuz mourning. In fact, Doc Marquis cites Ezekiel 8:14-18 which shows God’s anger of the Tammuz-Lent practice:
Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord’s house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these. And he brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
The passage seems to indicate there was a mourning period for Tammuz, which is accepted as historically accurate. The passage is a vision given to the prophet Ezekiel, and it was meant to show that the people were worshipping the wrong gods (e.g. Tammuz and other sun gods). Of course this is coming from my personal interpretation and I’m pretty far from a priest or theologian, so formulate your own theory on that one.
Easter Candy and Hot Cross Buns
As mentioned in the other holidays, the Tower of Babel had a temple to Moloch at the top. People would bring candies, hot cross buns, and flowers up to Moloch to honor him. The tradition of eating hot cross buns on Good Friday is celebrated in various countries around the world, and the theorists reference the following Bible passage from Jeremiah 7:17-21:
Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh. For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
Again, we see the Bible making references to the people worshiping these occult gods and goddesses. The Bible has multiple accounts of children going through the fires, and this was referring to the flames of Moloch at valley of Gehenna (or the valley of Hinnom sometimes) that sacrifices were burned in. Here’s Jeremiah 7:31:
They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.
If children could make it through the fire they were allowed to live without further persecution. Parents would have to stand still and emotionless as their child burned alive to the drum beats of the pagan priest in order for Moloch to accept the ‘gift.’
The goddess Eostre’s statue has the crescent moon on top of her head, which is another feature that suggests she is a reincarnation of Semiramis. The fertility goddesses are all considered to be similar; Diana, Eostre, Semiramis, Estata, etc.

Many customs of “Easter” are highly pagan in origin. Though we can find the word “Easter” in Acts 12:4 of the Authorized King James Version of the Bible, the name was never used in the original scriptures. The original word was “pascha” meaning Passover; the word Easter is NEVER biblically associated with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Nor was it historically associated with it, until, the rise of Constantine in 325 A.D. For these reasons, biblical orthodox christians prefer to use the term “Passover” or “Resurrection Sunday” rather than “Easter” when referring to the annual remembrance of Christ’s death and resurrection.
EASTER’S ANTISEMITC ORIGIN
In 325 AD – Emperor Constantine in the Council Nice ordered all Churches to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. The ancient Church had celebrated the Resurrection during the Passover [Nisan 14], which could fall on any day of the week, but the Churches near Rome had abandoned the practice because they hated the Jews, and fixed the date to the first Sunday after the first full moon of Spring. They also called the celebration ‘Easter’, after the pagan goddess of Spring. All of this is verified by the following quote from the Encarta Encyclopedia:
“An important historical result of the difference in reckoning the date of Easter was that the Christian churches in the East, which were closer to the birthplace of the new religion and in which old traditions were strong, observed [the Resurrection] according to the date of the Passover festival. The churches of the West, descendants of Greco-Roman civilization, celebrated Easter on a Sunday.
“Constantine the Great, Roman emperor, convoked the Council of Nicaea in 325. The council unanimously ruled that the Easter festival should be celebrated throughout the Christian world on the first Sunday after the full moon following the vernal equinox; and that if the full moon should occur on a Sunday and thereby coincide with the Passover festival, Easter should be commemorated on the Sunday following. Coincidence of the feasts of Easter and Passover was thus avoided.”
“The name [Easter] probably comes from Easter, the Anglo-Saxon name of a Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility, to whom was dedicated a month corresponding to April. Her festival was celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox; traditions associated with the festival survive in the Easter rabbit, a symbol of fertility, and in colored easter eggs, originally painted with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring, and used in Easter-egg rolling contests or given as gifts…” – Encarta Encyclopedia, article: Easter.
The following is an actual quote from Constantine showing that at the heart of the Sunday issue was Rome’s hatred for the Jews.
“And truly, in the first place, it seems to everyone a most unworthy thing that we should follow the customs of the Jews in the celebration of this most holy solemnity, who, polluted wretches! having stained their hands with a nefarious crime, are justly blinded in their minds. It is fit, therefore, that rejecting the practice of this people, we should perpetuate to all future ages the celebration of this rite, in a more legitimate order, which we have kept from the first day of our “Lord’s” passion even to the present times. Let us then have nothing in common with the most hostile rabble of the Jews.” (Council of Nicea, pg. 52.)
Thus we see that “Easter” is not an apostolic tradition, but a tradition set aside by a pagan King, who hated the Jewish people.
THE ORIGIN OF PAGAN ‘EASTER’
Most reference books say that the name “Easter” is derived from Eastre, the Teutonic goddess of Spring. Although this relationship exists, in reality, the origin of the name and the goddess are far more ancient; going all the way back to the time not long after the flood.
Nimrod: the powerful ruler who rebelled against God.
Nimrod, the grandson of Noah, became a mighty ruler and he built and organized major cities. These included BABEL, Accad, and Erech; he also built Resen, Calah and Nineveh in the land of Asshur (Genesis 10:10-12*) *Here Asshur is another name for Assyria, see Micah 5:6*. Ancient history tells us that these cities were home to unimaginable satanic, cultic, and perverted practices, all headed up by its ruler and high priest Nimrod. When Nimrod finally died, the Babylonian mystery religion continued on through his wife, Queen Semiramis. Upon Nimrod’s death, she deified him as the Sun
god. In various cultures he later became known as Baal, Janus, Saturn, Baalim, Bel, Osiris, Bacchus and Molech.
Later when Queen Semiramis gave birth to an illegitimate son, she claimed that he was Nimrod reborn, Nimrod Tammuz by name. She claimed that he was the promised seed of God (Genesis 3:15), the savior. Semiramis became the mediator between man and this “god”, you had to pray through her to reach him. So Nimrod was deified as the god of the sun, Queen Semiramis became the Queen of Heaven, the goddess of the moon and fertility; and Nimrod Tammuz became the savior in this satanic Babylonian religion. According to pagan legend, after Nimrod Tammuz died, he descended into the underworld; but through the weeping of his mother, he mystically revived in the springing forth of the vegetation-in Spring! (EZEKIEL 8:14) Much in the same way Queen Semiramis said the evergreen tree symbolized his father’s eternal life (Jeremiah 10:1-7). Thus a terrible false religion developed with its sun and moon worship, priests, astrology, demon worship, idolatry, mysterious rites, human sacrifice, and more. The celebration of Nimrod Tammuz’s revival is called Ostara (Easter), probably in honor of his mother, who’s weeping brought him from the dead. Ostara begins during the Spring Equinox, which is considered holy by pagans. The Spring Equinox occurs on a day in late March when day and night are of equal length, thus its name, Equi-nox.
God saw that the world was united in this occult, which was centered around Babel, and that the degeneration of man would soon fall to the level of the pre-flood era; So God put an halt to their order. He confused their speech; and separated the people (Genesis 11:7); then he divided the continents; thus scattering the people upon all the face of the earth. (Genesis 10:25,, Peleg means earthquake, and Genesis 11:8)
When the people were scattered, they carried their evil Sun god religion with them. They continued to build pyramids reminiscent of the tower of Babel as part of their Mystery religion. Today, we can still find remnants of these through out the world; In Iraq, South America, Central America, Egypt, Burma, China, etc. Jeremiah 51:7, Babylon hath been a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nation’s have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. Almost every idolatrous practice you can think of originated at Babel. As the people scattered from Babel with different languages, they used different names for Nimrod and Semiramis. Some called her the Mother Goddess “Ishtar” (originally pronounced Easter), in other lands, she was called Eostre, Astarte, Ostera, and Eastre; she was also called the Mother goddess, Wife of Baal, Ashtaroth or Ashtoreth; and the Queen of Heaven (Judges 2:13 and Jeremiah 44:17-19). She was worshipped as the god of fertility, as Mother Nature, the goddess of Spring and the goddess of the moon.
ORIGIN OF THE EASTER CUSTOMS
THE EASTER EGG: Now that we know the origin of the word “Easter”, we can look at one of Easter’s most loved symbols, the Easter Egg. The egg was a sacred symbol among the Babylonians. They believed the fable about an egg of wondrous size, which fell from heaven into the river Euphrates. From this marvelous egg, according to this ancient story, the Goddess Astarte (Easter) was hatched; And so the egg came to symbolize the Goddess Easter. The idea of a mystic egg spread from Babylon to many parts of the world. In Rome, the mystic egg preceded processions in honor of the Mother Goddess; the egg was part of the sacred ceremonies of the Mysteries of Bacchus. The pagan Druids used the egg as their sacred emblem. In Europe, China and Japan eggs were colored for sacred pagan festivals.
The egg was also a symbol of fertility; Semiramis was the goddess of fertility. The egg was also seen as a symbol of the Babylonian gods; the yoke was the sun god Baal, the white was seen as the white goddess Semiramis, and the entire egg was seen as a symbol of Nimrod Tammuz’s rebirth. THE EASTER BUNNY: The Easter Bunny is also a pagan idol. The rabbit is a well-known sexual symbol of fertility; and in various parts of the world, religions that developed from Babel, associate it with periodicity, as in both human and lunar. As you remember the Mother Goddess Easter (Semiramis) is associated with the moon, and is considered the goddess of fertility. In other words, the Easter Bunny, is named after and symbolizes the Mother goddess. Pagan tradition also teaches that Eostre (Easter) saved a bird whose wings were frozen from the harsh winter by turning it into a magical, egg laying hare. Eostre was said to be the goddess of renewal and rebirth, who brought about the reappearance of bright flowers, baby chickens and baby bunnies all from their winter dens. SUNRISE SERVICES: Sunrise services in honor of Tammuz is an ancient heathen custom. It is actually described in the book of Ezekiel.
Ezekiel 8:13-17 ¶ He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.
THE LORD’S SUPPER IN THE MORNING?
It is also interesting to Remember that Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, as literally the Lord’s Supper. The Communion was eaten in the evening, not in the morning. Because of Rome and Constantine the Communion is now eaten for breakfast! Thought it is not a sin to eat the Lord’s Supper in the morning, it would be more Biblical to eat it in the evening, like Christ, the Apostle and the Early Church did.
DID JESUS RISE ON SUNDAY MORNING?
If we remember the biblical day begins with sunset, then we will clearly see from scriptures that Christ was raised from the dead long before sunrise Sunday.
John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
The first day of the week ‘dawns’ or begins Saturday evening. From reading the four gospel accounts it is clear the ladies made TWO trips to the tomb, after the Sabbath ended. The first during the dark part of the first day of the week, where they first realized the Lord’s body was missing; and then the later returned in the morning with the Apostles Peter and John. It was the second visit that the angels appeared to the women, and Jesus spoke to Mary.
How did this pagan festival become associated with Christ’s resurrection day?
During the third and fourth centuries A.D.. Roman christian missionaries traveled through the pagan countryside converting pagans to the new popular christianity. At every chance they would transform pagan traditions and customs into christian customs simply by giving it a christian name. They figured that the pagans would feel more at home in their new religion if they didn’t have to give up their prior beliefs, and it was also seen as a way to keep the new converts from being persecuted by the die hard pagans.
CONCLUSION
The Catholic Chruch tries to mix pagan worship with the worship of God, Christianity with Babylonism, the Truth with a lie; But God will not mix with evil What are we doing when we attempt to “Worship Jesus” with the traditions of Babylon?[ Mark 7:7-9]
What concord hath Christ with Belial (Baal)?-2nd Corinthians 6:15. In Revelation 18:4, God pleads with his church “Come out of her, my people”. (Her being the Babylonian National and Religious Systems) In 2nd Corinthians 6:17-18 God commands
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” and in 2nd Timothy 2:21 “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessal unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use and prepared unto every good work.
