Against this backdrop, Trey seamlessly and incisively weaves the story of Joseph gleaned from both the Biblical record in Genesis 37-50 and the account given in the Apocryphal Book of Jasher; this all but forgotten history of ancient Egypt; and the myths and legends of the Egyptian pantheon of gods together into an electrifying narrative grand tapestry through which the viewer will not just hear the epic saga of Joseph retold like never before, but learn how God worked directly in Joseph’s life to fulfill prophecy and keep His covenants; and how these events set the stage for the Exodus of Moses.

“For me, the reason why we find no evidence for the Exodus narratives in the closing years of the Late Bronze Age is because it didn’t happen then but rather much earlier, towards the end of the Middle Bronze Age. In other words, archaeologists have been looking in all the right places for the Sojourn, Exodus and Conquest stories but in entirely the wrong time.”

“Looking further back in time, the biblical Exodus date of 1447 BC now falls in what Egyptologists call the Second Intermediate Period, which is the archaeological period known as the Middle Bronze IIA-IIB. It was at this time that we find a huge city, lying underneath the 19th Dynasty capital of Pi Ramesse (biblical Raamses), known in the contemporary texts as Avaris. And this Middle Bronze Age city, located in the land of Goshen, was teaming with Semites who had initially migrated from Canaan into the Egyptian delta. They then abruptly abandon the city and disappear. About half a century later the city of Jericho is violently destroyed, its walls falling down in an apparent earthquake. Jericho is then burnt to the ground and abandoned for nearly 600 years. Timing of Moses:

Steven divided Moses’ life into 3 blocks of 40 years, in sharing the history of Israel.
He was 40 when he visited his slave brethren, killed the taskmaster, and fled to Midian
After 40 years in the wilderness, God spoke to Moses through the Burning Bush.
he then led Israel through the Exodus wilderness for 40 years. (acts 7:36)
80 when he spoke to Pharoah – (Exodus 7:7)

So if he’s 80 at Exodus, and Exodus is around 1446bc, that means he was born around 1526BC and his first years fall into the opening generation of the 18th dynasty, under the family that we call the Thutmose dynasty.

1 Kings 6:1 says:

And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord.

Solomon’s 4th year ruling falls around 960 bc roughly, count back 480 years from there, for 1446bc for the Exodus
